Hello Church
The other day, I was driving down the road and noticed the car in front of me. A dog was hanging its head out the window. I don't know if dogs really smile, but this dog seemed to be smiling. I thought that dog looked like it was living its best life. The sun was shining, his head was hanging out the window, and the wind was blowing through his fur. It made me think- do we strive to live our best life? Do we strive to find happiness and joy? Some people spend their entire lives trying to find happiness. Happiness is found in the simple things. It is found in the little things. Things like a baby's smile and belly laugh, a quiet Sunday afternoon just resting, curling up on a rainy day reading a book, sitting at a pond fishing the day away. All these little moments of joy add up to happiness in life. I hope you find small moments of joy and happiness this next week. Maybe it's hanging your head out the car window and enjoying the breeze.
George and I will be out this Sunday ( the 20th) and the following Sunday. We are on an Alaskan cruise to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I am looking forward to this trip and a chance to spend time with my cousin and her husband. We are a year apart in age and spent countless hours playing together as children. She married one week before I did. So we have tried to celebrate our anniversaries together every few years.
Chandler Harlin will be filling the pulpit on the 20th, and Jacob Brigance will be with you on the 27th. I know you will make them feel welcome.
Shalom,
Pastor Stacy
