Annual Conference Time

Reflections from Pastor Stacy, with a short reminder about upcoming events at Coweta FUMC.

May 29, 2026, 7:16 AM

Good Morning from Oklahoma City!

This morning I am writing from the Annual Conference at the Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City, OK. Sue Coker and I are attending this year. I was not able to come until a little later yesterday.I attended the clergy executive session where the clergy voted on the newly commissioned and ordained people. It is exciting to see our denomination rebuilding and growing after disaffiliation.  I know Sue went to hear the UMC historian, Ashley Broggan, a marvelous historian and speaker. Our theme for this year's annual Conference is "What if Love?" If you have noticed, we have been doing a sermon series on that theme. John Wesley went to the places where people were hurting, where people were struggling and needed someone to bring light into their world. He went to the places where people's needs needed to be seen and taken care of.  We as a United Methodist Church are called into these same places. What if love did not just pray about the hurt, the unseen, and those struggling, but did something about it?

Tonight we will have the official ceremony for commissioning and ordaining new people, and today we will hear about the various ministries of the United Methodist Church in our conference and the works that they are doing to spread God's love. I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday.

Last, I want to thank everyone who donated and helped feed the Boston Avenue Youth Choir. It was a blessing to hear these talented youth perform and I loved seeing the chancel area filled with people singing. If you were unable to attend, there is a recording on the church's YouTube channel. I think the sound is delayed by a minute or two- just keep watching.

Shalom,

Pastor Stacy
